The Bendigo Writer's Festival was held on Friday 12th August - Sunday 14th August. It was an action-packed festival; with many esteemed guest speakers entertaining audiences.

A group of our students in years 7-10 were lucky enough to attend the 'Text Marks the Spot' Schools Day on Friday - which kicked off the entire festival. There was a buzz of excitement in the Ulumbarra Theatre as several school groups got the chance to hear from a panel of 10 authors who entertained the crowd with their hilarious answers to the game show that was presented by LaTrobe University's Sue Gillett and Sarah Mayor Cox.

Throughout the day, our students got to attend workshops led by some of Australia's most successful writers; discussing everything from the power of the spoken word to the reality that we present. They had the opportunity to ask questions and were inspired to tell their own story.

Prior to the actual festival, the 'My Place, the Vox' book was launched on Thursday 11th August at the LaTrobe University Visual Arts Centre in View Street. Students Abbey Barber, Esta Fountain, Nekia Thomas-Collard, Iyla Mills and Samantha Bramley were honoured to have their writing included within the anthology - it's things like this that make us so proud of our students!
