Here at Eaglehawk Secondary College, we know that we have a talented bunch of students. And Year 7 student Jarryd Eriksson is no exception.

The combination of wool, fashion and sport has proven a winner with Jarryd, who designed a Winter ski outfit for the 2016 Wool4School competition.

He was one of 12,000 Australian students to register for the Wool4School competition - a design contest which gives young people a real-life fashion design experience. Whilst Jarryd doesn't have a 'passion for fashion' per se, he decided to get involved with the competition and use his artistic talents to create something truly unique.

Open to students in years 7 through to 11, the competition challenges students to design an original outfit made from one of the world’s most innovative and natural fibres - Australian Merino wool. Each participant goes in the running to win part of $10,000 worth of prizes.

Students were set the task of designing an innovative and creative male or female sports outfit that conveys the Aussie team spirit. This year's theme of "Dress your favourite sports team" offered students a chance to be part of the global trend of combining sport and leisure.

Our college had 12 entries in the competition and Jarryd Eriksson won one of 10 runner up prizes: an outstanding effort for the young man. The student designed a unisex winter ski outfit; highlighting the warmth, texture and unique benefits of wool in an innovative manner.

The Wool4School competition has provided all students studying fabrics at Eaglehawk Secondary College with the opportunity to explore their own ideas and creativity. The way that the students responded to the interesting and engaging challenge was truly fantastic; all students did the college proud.
