School Library

The Eaglehawk Secondary College Library is a bright, comfortable and friendly place to visit and is run by qualified and professional staff.  The library is open six periods a day, before and after school, and at lunchtimes.

The ESC Library strives to:

  • create a safe, welcoming environment where staff and students can work and study
  • promote a reading culture and develop a love of literature
  • teach information skills within the context of the curriculum
  • collaborate with staff to provide accurate, current and relevant information, resources and ideas that support and enrich the curriculum

We have an extensive and up-to-date collection of fiction, non-fiction, reference, newspapers, talking books, graphic novels, comics, magazines & games. An extensive collection of DVD/Videos is available for staff borrowing to support their teaching.

The library has 25 computers available for student use. Wide reading is greatly encouraged and supported by an excellent collection of the latest fiction novels for young adults.

Storytime Project.

Our Storytime Project was launched late in 2006.  A growing collection of children’s picture books is available for students to borrow and read to their younger siblings.

The aim of this project is to:

  • develop literacy skills in our students
  • enhance literacy development from an early age by increasing the reading experiences of younger children
  • increase the range of resources available to local families
