Future Directions

In October 2005, the Minister for Education and Training, Lynne Kosky, MP, invited the community to participate in the development of a plan to regenerate secondary education in Bendigo.

This led to a steering committee being established that was charged with developing a long-term plan for transforming secondary education in Bendigo -“The Bendigo Education Plan”.

Eaglehawk Secondary College is an integral part of this plan.

The Bendigo Education Plan is built on three critical pillars:

  • the needs of Bendigo youth are central to our core enterprise
  • schooling in the future will be part of dynamic learning networks
  • learning itself will be revolutionised by depth, authenticity, learning choice, challenge and technological connectivity.

The Bendigo Education Plan must deliver improved educational outcomes for Bendigo.

As part of this plan Eaglehawk Secondary College will be rebuilt as a state of the art education facility due to for completion in 2010.

It is envisaged the work will commence at Eaglehawk Secondary College in 2008. Three other secondary schools in Bendigo will also be rebuil, with $20 million allocated in the 2007 state budget to begin this process on the Kangaroo Flat and the (old) Teacher’s College sites.
